it can really be taken any way you want but it seems to focus on not rushing through everything to get to a certain place in their life, when it's always been there and the rest will just come and how the young should just enjoy life and slow down.
i heard that he was inspired to write this when he saw and older women in Vienna, where people are generally respected for being old and wise. hope i helped :) i love the song
